Marketing a Skedaddle Business: What it Takes & How Our Team is Here to Support You

Marketing A Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control Franchise - 1
It’s no understatement to say that there is a lot that goes into running a business, and every process is just as essential as any other. However, if there’s one thing that can make or break your lead generation efforts – and, therefore, your ability to keep your business sustainable well into the future – it’s your marketing. This aspect of running a franchise is about more than getting your name out there in your territory and is often much more involved than a single Franchise Owner can handle by themselves.

With the Skedaddle franchise model, you’ll learn all about what will be asked of you regarding your marketing needs, but you’ll never be alone. Our Marketing team has years of experience connecting with property owners and other businesses in the industry, making owning a home protection business easier than bootstrapping it on your own!

What it Takes to Market a Home Protection Franchise

Have a Recognizable Brand

When you start your own business from scratch, you’ll be responsible for creating your own brand and ensuring your branding translates across all the different marketing channels and formats you plan to use. This can include everything from your logo to your brand’s voice and tone, as well as finer details like the fonts and colors you use on your website and in your printed materials. While you could go at it alone and either attempt to create your own brand or shell out thousands of dollars – and months of time – to hire a professional, joining a franchise brand gives you readymade branding and an established brand guide to follow, saving you time and money in the long run.

Maintain Your Online Presence

To truly set your business up for success today, you need to prioritize your online presence. For many property owners, a Google search is one of the first points of contact they’ll have with your business and may even be how they learn about you in the first place. When a homeowner is in need of a service they don’t often think about, like the removal of or protection against wildlife invasions, they need to find a home protection business that looks established and trustworthy, and a professional-looking website and established online presence can get this point across more quickly and efficiently than any other form of marketing.

Social Media Platforms

Thanks to modern advancements in technology over the past few decades, businesses have more tools than ever to leverage in their marketing, and one of the most effective is social media. Establishing your company’s presence on the right platforms for your industry, like Facebook and Instagram, is crucial to connecting with your audience. Why? Today, when consumers research businesses to determine whether or not they want to work with them, 98% of people are using social media and search engines to do this research.* Plus, maintaining a social media profile by consistently updating your page communicates to your potential customers that you’re still open for business.

Prioritize Your Community Impact

Networking is one of the most important aspects of marketing a home protection business, and it’s a big part of building and maintaining a customer base. While this can be done by participating in trade shows and local conferences, there are plenty of other ways to get connected with property owners or other organizations associated with your local wildlife protection industry. For example, humane societies receive more than 12,000 calls each year for humane wildlife removal services that can be referred to Skedaddle, so partnering with nonprofits like these – or even joining a local association – can go a long way in making a difference and expanding your business.

How Skedaddle Supports Our Franchise Owners with Marketing

Initial Training & Onboarding

Once you’ve signed all the paperwork and officially joined the Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control franchise, one of the first things you’ll do to start the process of launching your new home protection business will be our training programs. Our initial training will take place at our headquarters in Ancaster, Ontario, and include 31 classroom and 42 on-the-job hours. During this time, you’ll learn all about our history and profile of the company, how to manage administrative tasks, human resources management, and safety, how our wildlife services work, and how to approach your marketing.

Additionally, if you choose to add any of our supplemental services, you’ll also receive an extra 20 hours of classroom instruction and 96 hours of hands-on training. This will walk you through everything you need to know about our pest control, attic restoration, and holiday lighting services, as well as how to train your own technicians on how to add these services to their capabilities.

At Skedaddle, we have a deep understanding of what kinds of essential home services people search for when dealing with critters invading their homes. With this knowledge, we create an effective, lead-generating digital presence for each of our home protection Franchisees in the form of websites optimized for search engines! Our corporate team will assist Franchise Owners in developing location-specific sites, as well as launching Google Adwords campaigns, all while creating content that can be shared to help promote the business anywhere. This means you’ll get a well-rounded digital marketing strategy surrounding your website and how people will find your services online.

Vehicle Wrap

Instead of driving around in an unbranded vehicle that tells the community – or even your customers – nothing about your business, our team will help you obtain and wrap your work truck or van, turning it into a highly cost-effective method of outdoor advertising. Once you’ve wrapped your first vehicle during the onboarding process, we’ll help you continue to wrap and brand each new addition to your fleet as you grow and expand, too!

Ongoing Marketing Support

As you get to know your community’s home protection and wildlife control needs and running your new Skedaddle business becomes second nature, you’ll get to know the marketing demands associated with the industry. In franchising, the training you receive during onboarding can only cover so much, so that’s why our in-house marketing professionals will continue to provide you with all the support you need, no matter how long you’ve been up and running.

While our call center will help you with much of the day-to-day customer conversations and assessment scheduling, our marketing support team will provide you with tips and best practices on how to spend your time and budget on marketing. Plus, we’ll be available to you if you need to call or video chat with us throughout the week!

Marketing Collateral

As a Skedaddle Franchise Owner, networking will play a huge role in the marketing aspect of your business and will give you the opportunity to connect with potential customers – and maybe even collaborators – within your community. However, you can make a good, lasting impression while networking if you have great collateral. Our marketing team has designed everything you could need, including brochures, postcards, flyers, trade show booth supplies, and more. With collateral provided to you by our team, you’ll have all the tools you need to have an integrated approach to creating brand awareness in your territory.

Our Annual Conference

Each year, the entire Skedaddle team hosts a conference, bringing all of our Franchise Owners together so we can connect, learn from each other’s successes, and collaborate on solutions for the upcoming year. During this time, our Director of Marketing, Ryan Rainville, will highlight all the effective marketing strategies of the past year, any amazing success stories from any franchise territory that can be tied back to marketing, and what to expect from marketing in the year ahead.

In between presentations, Franchisees will have the chance to connect with one another and discuss anything and everything, including how they’ve approached their own marketing and what’s worked well for them. This way, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from those with more hands-on experience managing the unique marketing needs of a Skedaddle territory while also networking with others you can reconnect with whenever you need another perspective in the future!

With all the support you’ll receive from our corporate team and the experienced family of other Franchise Owners here at Skedaddle, you can trust that you’ll always have an accessible marketing resource at your fingertips whenever you need it.
